Weekly job fairs Imus
IMUS, Cavite — The Municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) here has been conducting weekly job fairs in a bid to give unemployed adults a chance to get jobs in the province and abroad.
Imus PESO Manager Bengie E. del Rosario said two employment fairs are set today (August 31) at the Old Imus Municipal Building on General Castaneda Street, Bayan Luma and September 20 (Tuesday) at Robinson’s Place on Aguinaldo Highway. The fairs are open to college graduates and undergraduates. Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan supports the project with national government agencies. (Anthony Giron)
Pangasinan areas still under flood
DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — Two days after typhoon “Mina” ravaged northern Luzon, 13 barangays in this city remained inundated due to continuous monsoon rains, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) here reported yesterday.
The CDRRMC identified the low-lying areas under flood water as Barangays Malued, Pogo Grande, Mangin, Bacayao Norte, Bacayao Sur, Lucao, Pogo Chico, Lasip Chico, Pantal, Mayombo, Tapuac, Salisay and Lasip Grande. In Calasiao, roads in Barangays Lasip, San Vicente, Talibaew, Mancup and San Vicente were impassable due to flooding. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
Roman Highway repair done soon
SAMAL, Bataan — The rehabilitation of the Roman Superhighway stretching from Orani to Samal will be completed soon even as controversy dogs the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 1 Office which is implementing the project.
Prior to this, DPWH Regional Office Director Antonio V. Molano Jr. was criticized by local media – the Bataan Peninsula Times, DZXL radio and CLTV 36 – for apparent lack of transparency in the P200-million project to attach a bridge to a major road.
District Engineer Wilfredo Mallari, Assistant District Engr. Rey Macalinao and the local DPWH office claim they have no knowledge or participation in how the road projects were bided out and implemented. (Mar T. Supnad)
Alvarado leads Del Pilar rites
BULACAN, Bulacan — Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado hurled Tuesday a challenge to journalists to uphold the principles set forth through the life and works of “The Great Propagandist,” Marcelo H. del Pilar.
Speaking at the Del Pilar shrine in Barangay San Nicolas, here, Tuesday morning on the occasion of the national hero’s 161st birth anniversary, said journalists must be brave in reporting the truth and remain steadfast even when they are being persecuted by people in power.
Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, who attended the ceremony, said he was inspired by the heroism and patriotism of Del Pilar in the struggle against corruption in government. (Freddie C. Velez)
1,700 poor families recieve assitance
MASANTOL, Pampanga — A total 1,700 indigent families from 28 barangays here will now benefit from the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office in Region 3 said Tuesday.
DSWD Regional Director Adelina S. Apostol said that the beneficiaries were being identified through the 2009 database of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), a DSWD program which determines who and where the poorest of the poor families are located.
