‘Sisa’ gets support from AIMS

The indie movie “Sisa,” produced by Carlo Maceda’s Off Cam Productions, received support from the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS). A staff of the school, Angelo Bautista, recommended the screening of the movie for AIMS’ students and staff in celebration of Buwan ng Wika last month.

AIMS Pres. Arlene Abuid-Paderanga said the screening was timely in line with the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal who wrote “Noli Me Tangere” from which “Sisa” was based.

The screening of “Sisa” served as a fundraiser to fund the school’s newly formed theater group. “We have a lot of talents who need a venue wherein to express their artistic inclinations,” said Dr. Paderanga.

“Sisa” is Carlo’s second production venture after “Nars” which he said has grossed about P30 million. “You have to establish a distribution system that works so your films will make money,” Carlo said.

“Sisa” stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Jay Manalo, Carlo Maceda, Christian Vasquez, Jao Mapa, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Chinggoy Alonso, Ama Quiambao, Bodjie Pascua, Shamaine Buencamino, Mon Confiado, Allan Paule and Richard Quan.

‘Wondergays’ releases first album

With “Blind Item” as carrier, Wondergays released its first album featuring four songs which have already become so popular.

The members of the band are colorful – literally! They are Blue, Pink, White, Black, Gray and Green. Their respective costumes always match their names.

“I do not believe in same-sex marriage,” they all said. “Just partnership!”

They explained that “same-sex marriages will entail a lot of problems, such as when couples separate. “You will be spending for legal fees,” he said.

How about being in love with a straight guy? “I would rather give my money to my family,” White said.

Green added, “I would rather have another gay like me because we are the same and understand each other more!”
