Pampanga allots P102.3M for schools
SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — The Provincial Government of Pampanga has allocated some P102.27 million for education as part of its priority thrusts, Governor Lilia Pineda announced Friday.
The large share, P100 million, of the said fund will be for the repair of school buildings and other needs of public schools in the province while the remaining P2.27 million is allotted for college scholarships.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved Pineda’s proposal for the release of funds for the development and improvement of various public schools in the province. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
DOLE orients 26 foreign firms
FREEPORT AREA OF BATAAN — Seeing the promise of more foreign investments poured into this free port zone, the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) invited recently 26 foreign employers and Filipino managers to its “Labor Education for Foreign Employers” orientation seminar.
The event, held in coordination with the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), is in response to issues raised on cultural differences at the workplace in a dialogue conducted earlier by the Do LE with labor unions in the province, said DoLE Regional Director Leopoldo B. De Jesus. (Mar T. Supnad)
‘Bantay Dagat' rounds up 18
CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — Local watchmen rounded up the other day at least 18 fishermen in the coastal town of Bolinao, Pangasinan for dynamite-fishing. Ricardo Recueno, the team leader of the Pangasinan’s Bantay Dagat, said his group was on sea patrol when a series of explosions was heard.
He said that their groups had captured from the possession of the fishermen several plastic bottles, ammonium nitrate, and a compressor allegedly used in dynamite fishing. The suspects had been turned over to the Bolinao Police Station to face the appropriate charges. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
Tourism events set in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — On Monday, September 12, the provincial government will formally open Tourism Month, lining up several activities aimed at drawing visitors to this province. With the launching of its campaign “I Love Pangasinan,” the Capitol prepared the Pangasinan Culture and Arts Festival which will open with the introduction of the Pangasinan Hymn.
On the weekend of September 16 and 17, a photo exhibit and poster-making contest, cultural presentations under the “Bali-balin Pangasinan” program, a fashion show of festival queens will be held at the SM City Rosales. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
CDC signs up Nayong Pilipino
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — More improvements will be done on the Nayong Pilipino inside this Freeport to better showcase the culture, history and beauty of the Philippines. Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo said Friday that this will be undertaken after the recent signing of the renewal of contract between CDC and the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF).
Among the plans for the Nayong Pilipino are regular cultural shows, the construction of a “palaruang pambata” facility (playground), shuttle service, and a vibrant calendar of monthly events to attract more tourists. (Franco G. Regala)
