MANILA, Philippines — Manny Pacquiao is getting a guaranteed purse of more than $20 million – his biggest so far – when he battles Mexican nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao’s take-home pay will bloat even more owing to his share in the pay-per-view (PPV) and gate receipts.

Marquez, in contrast, is earning his biggest paycheck of $5 million and a share as well in the PPV.

Against Shane Mosley last May, Pacquiao got $20 million up-front and a slice in the PPV sales.

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is upbeat of posting a new record for Pacquiao in PPV revenue by drawing not less than 1.5 million buys and as much as 2 million buys. The Mosley fight generated about 1.4 million buys.

When Pacquiao made his US debut in June 2001, he was paid a paltry $40,000 as a last-minute replacement against South African Lehlo Ledwaba, who he knocked out to win the International Boxing Federation super-bantamweight title.

Pacquiao, 32, has generated more than 8 million buys in his last 14 fights.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao showed up for training at the Planet Jupiter Gym in Makati Monday afternoon and vowed to work out until the end of the week as he prepares to set up camp in Baguio City.

Pacquiao is coming off a whirlwind four-city, 25,000-mile press tour that began in Manila, made stops in New York and Los Angeles, and ended in Mexico City.

Trainer Freddie Roach is arriving this weekend and Day One of training camp begins Monday.
