Mayor Honey halts inspections of business establishments this holiday season

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan ordered a halt to all inspections of business establishments in the city to ensure smooth operations for businesses during the holiday season.
City Administrator Bernie Ang confirmed that he has issued a memorandum to all concerned city government units, instructing them to suspend all inspections, particularly in busy areas like shopping malls where many stalls are located.
The prohibition applies to all types of business establishments and is intended to allow businesses to operate freely during the peak holiday season without disruption.
Ang explained that the decision was made to avoid any hindrances to the operations of local businesses, which are especially busy during the holidays.
He added that this also addresses the issue of unscrupulous individuals who may take advantage of the holiday rush by posing as city inspectors to harass or extort money from business owners.
The city administrator further warned that anyone found violating the order or attempting to conduct unauthorized inspections would face legal action.
Ang also appealed to business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals claiming to be city inspectors.
The move aims to protect businesses from exploitation and ensure a safe, hassle-free holiday season for both business owners and customers in the City of Manila.
