MANILA, Philippines — So, where was he, really? Aga Muhlach was asked by entertainment media at the presscon organized by TV5 in connection with his new and first TV show with the Kapatid Network, “Pinoy Explorer.”

“Well, I have been to wonderful places, which will allow me to present to televiewers some of what we all consider wonders of the world,” Aga replied.

“And I must admit, I was myself awed by what I discovered. And this somehow compensated for all the hirap we, meaning my director, Rowell Santiago, and the staff and crew of ‘Pinoy Explorer’ had to go through,” Aga said.

For the show’s first episode to be aired tonight (Sept. 18), “Pinoy Explorer” will feature the renowned dinosaur museum and resource center. Aga will even show audiences cadaver of this much-talked about creature.

“We really want to make ‘Pinoy Explorer’ a one-of-a kind reality show,” said Perci Intalan, who was with Aga during the trip.

Aga personally picked Rowell Santiago to direct his new show. “I am not just close to him, he’s like a brother to me, as well as his brother, Randy.”

Telenovela Channel starts Sept. 19

Finally, Asia’s first 24/7 Telenovela Channel is starting its operation on Sept. 19, initially hundreds of local cable operators nationwide and direct-to-home TV services. Direct-to-home TV is an alternative to cable TV in places where cable TV is difficult to install, explained Pelita Peralta-Uy, managing director of Beginnings at Twenty Plus, Inc. which partnered with Televisa Internacional for the putting up of Telenovela Channel in the country.

The Telenovela Channel is being offered for free.

Ms. Uy also assures everyone that the channel will reach the whole archipelago, even transcending terrestrial obstacles.

Considering a full range of viewer demographics and ethnicity, the channel’s telenovelas will not only be dubbed in Tagalog, but will also be offered in their original Spanish language with English subtitles.
