Young JV will front for Westlife's 'Gravity Tour' Manila leg

MANILA, Philippines – Local R&B act Young JV is thrilled to be given the opportunity to open for the upcoming concert of popular Irish boy band Westlife.
“Siyempre I feel so blessed. Excited ako because, siyempre, this is for an international performer,” Young JV told Bulletin Entertainment in a phone interview.
The “ASAP Rocks” mainstay related that he was chosen by the concert promoters Deegee de Guzman and Robie. “They picked me because they wanted a pop-R&B act to [add] flavor sa show. They wanted to see something different,” said he.
This would be the third time that Young JV was invited to open for shows by foreign acts in Manila. Last year, he performed at the Supafest 2010, which featured international hip hop and R&B acts Flo Rida, T-Pain, Kelly Rowland and Sean Kingston. That same year he also opened for the series of shows by “America’s Best Dance Crew” Season 3 champs Quest Crew.
Asked what the Westlife concert attendees can expect with his act, Young JV shared, “I have something really new para sa kanila. More daring, I could say na more daring dance moves na hindi ko pa ginagawa kahit sa 'ASAP' or kahit sa regular shows ko lang.” He clarified that he will be doing said performance specifically for said concert.
According to his official website, Young JV will be joined by DJ BiggBeats in his performance. He also told Bulletin Entertainment that there will be two or three more local front acts, which he couldn’t name yet as of this writing. But he offered, “Acoustic [acts], kumbaga.”
In other news, Young JV is currently working on his second album that he said will be released soon.
“Marami siyang bago, like, Tagalog songs [aside from] English. So medyo big step siya sa career ko kasi medyo nagche-change na ‘ko ng image. Wala pa siyang title, actually. On the works pa ‘yung title,” said he.
Westlife's “The Gravity Tour 2011,” will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sept. 29.
