P10M for Clark sports facilities

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Philippines — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) is set to earmark P10 million fund for the construction of various sports-related facilities inside Clark Freeport Zone.

Included in this year’s proposed sports facilities to be included in the new CDC flagship projects, are the construction of grandstand, bleachers, barricade, backstop, football goals, and other related site development.

There is also a plan to establish an Olympic Sports Complex as aligned with the Bases Conversion Development Authority’s directive to pursue the development of the “Next Frontier” area. (Franco G. Regala)

La Union eyes coveted award

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) office in this region revealed Tuesday that it has chosen La Union as Region 1’s bet for this year’s national search of “Gawad Pamana ng Lahi.”

DILG Region 1 Director Manuel Biason already ordered the submission of final requirements to the national screening committee.

Gov. Manuel Ortega said the selection of La Union to vie for the coveted award is another “inspiration and challenge to all leaders and employees of the provincial government to further raise the level of excellent public service as result of strong cooperation.” (Freddie G. Lazaro)

IMUS, Philippines — Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, has commended Superintendent Hersan H. Mojica, Imus police officer-in-charge (OIC), and his men for their action against two riding-in-tandem holdup suspects during a recent incident in the town.

In a message sent to Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-A Office and Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO), Bartolome cited Mojica and his personnel on their move in the incident that led to the neutralization of the elusive motorcycle-riding suspects operating in the town. (Anthony Giron)

Business options for cops’ wives

TAYTAY, Philippines— Spouses and other adult dependents of policemen assigned in this province may now opt to become entrepreneurs as the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) initiated recently a project aimed at educating them with various livelihood skills.

Through the initiative of Senior Supt. Manuel Cesar Prieto, PPO director, and the PPO’s Officers’ Ladies Club, the wives and their dependents attended a one-day livelihood training seminar over the weekend at the Ynares Covered Court inside the PPO headquarters.

It was focused on various techniques on becoming a micro-entrepreneur so that the spouses of policemen will have several options for home-based business. (Nel B. Andrade)

Mangrove-planting set in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) — Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. was set to lead provincial and municipal officials including members of the media, travel photographers and bloggers in the “World Wetlands Day” mangrove and tree planting activity Tuesday.

As the culminating activity of the Tourism Month celebration, the event is also part of the Bakawan Eco-Tour which was set to kick off at the Mangrove Information Center and Arnedo Nursery Farm in Bolinao.

Each participant was to plant 10 mangrove seedlings to be provided by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG).
