CEBU CITY, Cebu - The Department of Foreign Affairs is teaching protocol to Cebu hospitality service students to equip them with skills in dealing with other people once they are employed.

In an International Protocol Seminar sponsored by the University of San Carlos School of Business and Economics, DFA Undersecretary Franklin Ebdalin stressed the importance of protocol not only to students but also to teachers.

Ebdalin said protocol is important as a compilation of norms and practices for good manners and right conduct. (Mars W. Mosqueda Jr.)

Blood bags

MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) - The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has 200 bags of 450 cubic centimetres of donated blood deposited at the Salvacion Yniquez Oppus Memorial Provincial Hospital (SOYMPH) blood bank for needed blood purposes in the province.

“For the first time in the history of PNRC Southern Leyte, this is the biggest collection of blood, so far,” PRNC Officer-in-Charge Noli Casas said.

He said the blood donation will be distributed to other public hospitals in the province, namely the Sogod District Hospital and Anahawan District Hospital, so that the people need not to travel to Maasin City just to get blood.

Cebu’s Koreans 

CEBU CITY, Cebu - It’s all systems go for Cebu City’s first Korean Day celebration, a two-day celebration that will provide the Korean community here a chance to showcase their tradition and customs and foster closer ties with the Cebuanos.

The two-day activity, which will be on September 30 and October 1, is a way of recognizing Korean settlers and tourists in the city.

“It cannot be argued that there are many Koreans now in Cebu,” said Vice-Mayor Joy Augustus Young who added that it is just fitting for the local government to celebrate Korean Day since it is one way for Koreans to familiarize Cebuanos with their customs and traditions, enabling the locals to understand them. Lakbay Aral

PAMPLONA, Negros Oriental - Pupils of Banawe Elementary School pupils in Brgy. Banawe, Pamplona, Negros Oriental, enjoyed their educational trip to various tourist spots in the province.

The trip, dubbed Lakbay Aral- Bayanihan Para sa Kabataan, was facilitated by the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Brigade along with the Oriental Negros’ Children's Advocacy Network (ONCAN).

Many of the pupils’ parents joined in the field trip which included the provincial capital, Dumaguete City where they saw their first airplane taking off from the runway of the Dumaguete airport. (Edith B. Colmo)

Investment priorities

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – Local government officials in Capiz will convene to harmonize investment priorities in their respective localities.

Department of Trade and Industry Information Officer Ken Queenie Cuñada saida two-day consultative forum on generic Investment and Incentives Code of Capiz has been set October 6 to 7 along with some provincial and municipal officials here as resource persons.

The activity aims to generate reactions and inputs to improve provisions in the provincial draft code as well as harmonize and align all locally–initiated incen-tives program of various local government units in Capiz.
