Nora TV series starts Monday
MANILA, Philippines -- The anticipated TV comeback of superstar Nora Aunor will air starting Monday night on TV5 (after “Wil Time Big Time”). Entitled “Sa Ngalan ng Ina,” it is the country’s first-ever miniserye running just for a month.
It has all the qualities of a topnotch production, says Perci Intalan, head of creative and entertainment of TV5.
“Sa Ngalan ng Ina” tells the story of a mother’s love, amid what is said to be a grand political drama.
It also offers a new and advanced approach to TV viewing as the scenes are shot in full high-definition (HD) quality. It also assembles some of the industry’s best minds, awarded directors (Mario O’Hara and Jon Red) and a powerhouse cast.
Nora plays the role of Elena Deogracias, a quiet but intelligent and strong-willed woman who is elected governor of her province. She never dreamt of getting into politics and she has to endure all the insults and discouragements thrown her way.
Playing the role of the two most important men in Elena’s life are Bembol Roco as her husband Armando Deogracias and Christopher de Leon as Pepe Ilustre, a man from her past.
Completing the cast of “Sa Ngalan ng Ina” are Rosanna Roces as Lucia Ilustre, Ian de Leon as Zaldy, Nadine Samonte as Andrea Deogracias, Alwyn Uytingco as Alfonso Deogracias, Edgar Allan Guzman as Angelo Deogracias, Eula Caballero as Elsa Toribio, Karel Marquez as Carmela Ilustre, Joross Gamboa as Ramoncito, Jay Aquitania as Manuel, and with the special participation of Eugene Domingo as Pacita Toribio.
The rewards Venus now enjoys
Beyond the perks that come with being a beauty queen, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj is realizing her other dreams.
She has invested on a residential condominium unit worth more than P3M. She is also the face of Araneta Center whose endorsements and events she graces.
Venus has also built a home for her mom in their native Bato, Camarines Sur even as she helps send relatives to school. No doubt Venus has contributed to the uplift of the family’s standard of living.
When she came home and gave the Philippines its first top-five finish in the Miss Universe Pageant in decades, the media couldn’t seem to get enough of her.
The media frenzy doubled in January 2011 when Bb. Pilipinas partnered with ABS-CBN. This augured well once again for Venus as she benefited from the nationwide reach of the Kapamilya network. Today, Venus continues to enhance her popularity as a regular performer in top-rating shows like “Umagang Kay Ganda” and “ASAP.”
It has been more than a year since she uttered her “major, major” answer and wowed the world with her regal performance in Las Vegas during the Miss Universe 2010 tilt. Even as she has passed on the limelight to Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup, there is no doubt that Venus has found her niché as a celebrity in her own right.
