The Las Piñas City Council led by Vice-Mayor April Aguilar conducted a joint committee hearing last Wednesday, March 13, to deliberate on financial matters affecting the city.
Aguilar said the Committees on Appropriations and Ways and Means and Laws, Rules and Privileges convened for a joint committee hearing to deliberate on letter requests from delinquent tax payers seeking waivers for penalties and interest on their business taxes.
Aguilar said the hearing also examined the proposed annual budgets of five barangays in the city.
She said the joint session saw the local government's efforts in facilitating economic relief for taxpayers who have fallen behind, acknowledging the challenges they are facing.
The vice-mayor said that by considering the waiver of penalties and interest, the committees aim to provide a lifeline to struggling businesses and individuals.
Aguilar added that the hearing also focused on the budgets of Barangays Almanza Dos, Daniel Fajardo, Pamplona Dos, Pilar, and Zapote to ensure that these barangays receive adequate financial support to carry out projects on infrastructure, public services, and other initiatives.
