A rising singer called Zia

MANILA, Philippines -- Rising singing star Zia Quizon is a chip off the old block.
A daughter to Dolphy and Zsa Zsa Padilla, she has her own distinctive talent in singing and songwriting.
She admits though that her parents are big influences in her singing career.
With her debut album under PolyEast Records, Zia who turned 20 last Sept. 23, said she attempts to bring freshness to the recording industry with a six-track CD made up of feel-good music from three original compositions including her very own creation “Simple Girl.”
Zia says, “I draw inspiration from everyday experiences or a particularly strong feeling that I have at the moment. I believe that songs become more meaningful when you’re feeling emotional and in a way come from a very real place.”
Aside from “Simple Girl,” another highlight of the album is the song “Mambobola,” a song that propelled Zsa Zsa Padilla to stardom in the ’80s.
Zia also gave credit to her dad through the contemporary classic piece “Smile.” “Aside from my mom, I would say that my dad’s taste in music really shaped mine. He influenced me to appreciate the classics – from standards to classical to world music and even oldies.”
The other original compositions in Zia’s self-titled debut album are “Dear Lonely” by Kiko Salazar and “Ako Na Lang” by Jungee Marcelo.
Released by Polyeast Records, the album in available in records bars nationwide.
Who’s David Dimuzio
We first learned about David DiMuzio when we were invited to his concert and album launch at the Teatrino in Greenhills recently.
The international singer/songwriter may sound weird. He said that in his entire life he’d never owned a TV set, and that he slept in his car for almost two years. David, though, is very talented.
For his original compositions, David has been featured on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” on GMA-7, “Headstart” with Karen Davila, “Homepage” on Net25, etc.
David has also written songs that were recorded by Nyoy Volante, Top Suzara, Yassi Pressman.
David’s self-titled album contains 16 tracks. His original Taglish song and current single “Naisip Mo Ba?” is at present the 11th most requested music video on MYX. In just four weeks, his music video for “Naisip Mo Ba?” has been viewed 424,000+ times on YouTube.
By the way, David was also a juggler. When he was 16, he won the International Jugglers Association’s World Championship.
