Feeding program
ANGONO, Rizal, Philippines — The town’s day care students will enjoy a free meal each day courtesy of the national government’s supplemental feeding program. This came as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 4 has released a total amount of P1,153,200 to the local government here exclusively for some 961 day care students of the town.
The feeding program will run for 120 days with each child receiving a vitamin-fortified rice meal per day. The announcement of the turnover of the budget for the supplemental feeding program was made during the recent celebration of the birthday of former Governor Nini Ynares, mother of incumbent Governor Jun Ynares, III. Bike lanes
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — Clark Development Corporation President Felipe Antonio Remollo is keen on the rehabilitation of bike lane systems for a more eco-friendly means of transportation inside this Freeport zone. During the time of the Americans at the former US-run Clark Air Base, bike lanes were constructed for the safety of the bicycle-riding employees inside the base.
Remollo is a staunch supporter of environment-friendly area, especially inside the Freeport zone. CDC is also set to implement recycling programs in Clark and possible incentives for the investments of promising alternative energy projects that will comply with helping promote eco-friendly system. Among the flagship projects of Remollo is the intensive promotion of Clark as a Priority Tourist Destination in Central Luzon. (Franco G. Regala)
Lantern fest
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The City Government of San Fernando has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with two private companies for the staging of this year’s Giant Lantern Festival at the Robinsons Starmills Mall here.
The Robinsons Land Corporation has turned over a check worth P1.83 million to Mayor Oscar Rodriguez as a subsidy for the ten barangays that will participate in this year’s event. Robinsons Land Corporation group property manager Jodee Paulette Arroyo and Robinsons Starmills mall manager Architect Oliver Gadia turned over the said sponsorship check. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
Fishermen rescued
LINGAYEN,Pangasinann -Four fishermen from Bolinao, were reunited with their families after being rescued by Panamanian cargo vessel. Fishermen were earlier reported missing during the onslaught of Typhoon "Quiel," and now finally reunited with their families at the Capitol Resort Hotel here.
Almost three days and two nights floating at sea, Eduardo de la Cruz, Joseph Caasi, Dante del Fierro and Ricardo Castelo were rescued by the crew of a Panamanian cargo vessel transiting from Singapore to Japan at the shoreline of Sta. Cruz in Ilocos Sur at 8:30 a.m. , October 3. The families of the fishermen said, four ventured out to the sea afternoon of September 29 as they thought that Typhoon "Quiel" will arrive on October 2. Quezon expo
LUCENA CITY, Quezon — The Quezon province will join the "Wow Hanep Buhay Trade Expo" slated at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, October 27-30, 2011. Alberto Bay, acting Quezon provincial tourism officer said, “Wow Hanep Buhay ng Pinoy” is an advocacy retail trade fair showcasing Filipino culture and tradition through arts, crafts, fashion, cuisine and other specialty products handcrafted by Filipino artisans organized by the Philippine Chamber of Handicrafts and Industries (PCHI) in partnership with the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc.
