Sports facility eyed in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – An investor from Japan expressed keen interest to invest in the proposed world-class sports facility center, which is geared to transform this Freeport into the country’s premier sports training center and amusement hub.

Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo, said the Clark Star Center, otherwise known as the Clark Sports Training Amusement and Recreation Center, was presented to Japanese investor during the September 26 state visit of President Benigno Aquino III in Japan. During the state visit, Remollo said he had asked Japanese traders to fund the Clark Star Center, which will be established
in a 200-hectare area at the northeastern portion of the Freeport. (Franco G. Regala)

Computer literacy

ANTIPOLO CITY — Local government employees here are the latest beneficiaries of the computer learning program of a power distribution firm. This came as the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) chose the staff of the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office to avail of its “One Meralco Project” (OMP), the power firm’s Computer Literacy Program (CLP).

Some 40 city hall personnel learned the basics in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel during the recent seminar held here. Mayor Danilo Leyble thanked Meralco for the program and its recent donation of 20 computer units to the city government. (Nel B. Andrade)

Medical mission in Bulacan towns

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — Medical teams from the government trooped yesterday to still flooded villages in the coastal towns of Calumpit and Hagonoy to attend to the medical needs of flood victims and distributed medicines.

Dr. Florante Tuazon, provincial health consultant said that doctors from the Department of Health (DoH) and other volunteer health workers went to the flooded villages to conduct medical missions and treat flood victims who are mostly suffering from acute upper respiratory ailments, skin disease, high blood and hypertension, open wounds and diarrhea. Pilar folk get relief goods

PILAR, Bataan — While this town was one of the severely hit by typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel,” the local folk here were so lucky that they were immediately given canned goods and other relief items from no less than their Mayor Charlie Pizarro and his wife Alice. Pizarro said that it was his sworn duty to look after the interest of his constituents.

10 injured in Quezon crash

TAYABAS CITY, Quezon — Ten people were injured after five vehicles figured in a smashup on the diversion road of Maharlika Highway in Barangay Isabang, here, Thursday morning.

The smashup started with the crash of an Isuzu 10-wheeler loaded with bananas. Two Elf trucks, a Honda Civic car and a motorcycle crashed into the Isuzu truck’s wreckage. Police identified the victims as Christian Jaycer Hernandez, Aiza Jaca, Roberto Brin, Armando Lumampao, Allan Banuyo, Mark Anthony Fuerte, Danilo Gutierrez, Reggie Sumpay, Gennie Ray Estrelado, and Jonathan Abulencia.
