Cuy tells international community: Global cooperation vital in fight vs illegal drug trade

Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) chairman Catalino Cuy stressed the importance of strong alliance with international counterparts to effectively address the illegal drugs problem in the country.
He issued the statement in a speech delivered during the recent 67th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) held in Vienna, Austria.
In a statement, Cuy pointed to the direction of the Philippine government’s drug abuse prevention and control initiatives, outlining the efforts in strengthening treatment and rehabilitation in the country under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong’’ Marcos Jr.
Gracing the event with Cuy were senior officials from the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to Vienna, Austria headed by Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes “Luli’’ Arroyo-Bernas.
The DDB noted that representatives from the Office of the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Office of the Solicitor’s General attended the proceedings as part of the Philippine contingent.
