Angeles PESO: Hall of Famer

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of Angeles City bagged the “PESO Hall of Fame Award” during the 11th National PESO Congress, which opened on October 5 in Davao City. This was announced by Mayor Ed Pamintuan as Angeles City won this year’s “National Best PESO Award.”

For the third consecutive year since 2009, Angeles City bested other contenders in the “Highly Urbanized City” category of the awards highlighting the annual National PESO Congress and organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) and the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE). Cavite PPO aids flood victims

CAMP GEN. GARCIA, Cavite — The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) sent relief goods for victims of two typhoons that ravaged provinces in Central and Northern Luzon last week. Senior Superintendent John C. Bulalacao, PPO director, ordered Supt. Jerry Protacio, chief of PPO Community Relations Division, to transport at once the sacks of rice, boxes of noodles and canned goods and bundles of clothes and other materials for the flood victims.

The goods were gathered by the PPO officials from kind-hearted groups and individuals after the assistance call was made by Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome, PNP Chief. (Anthony Giron)

Marksmanship competition

TAYTAY, Rizal — Police and local government personnel here participated in a shooting competition as part of the municipal police station’s effort to build a better partnership among police and their counterparts in the local government.

Superintendent Arthur Masungsong, chief of the police station here said the Fun Shoot held at the town’s SWAT Rifle and Pistol Range here Saturday was a joint undertaking of the police station and the office of Mayor Joric Gacula. Around 90 shooters participated in the event that tested their firing proficiency. (Nel B. Andrade)

10,000 seedlings planted on SLEX

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Rotary International District (RD) 3820 headed by District Governor Reynaldo H. Castillo recently organized over 800 people from various sectors to plant trees on South Luzon Expressway (SLEx). More than 10,000 seedlings of Pili, Narra and Golden Shower were planted as their share of Rotary’s advocacy of Environmental Protection with a theme” A Greener Rotary: Plant a Tree Embrace Humanity.”

42 couples tie the knot

BAGUIO CITY — A total of 42 couples participated in a mass wedding ceremony offered by the city government, giving opportunity to long time partners to legitimize their union in a grand ceremony at no cost to them.

The number of weddings being solemnized by courts and local executives continue to increase, especially during the so-called “ber” months and most of them usually avail themselves of the mass wedding ceremonies being offered by local governments in order to solemnize and legalize their union without having to spend a penny, said Mayor Mauricio G.
