Manila Prosecutor's Office cited for swift resolution of cases

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan commended the Manila Prosecutor's Office (MPO) after it received an award as the Most Outstanding City Prosecution Office in Metro Manila on Wednesday, March 20.
"Isa lang ang ibig sabihin niyan. Napapatupad ng Manila Prosecutor's Office ang tungkuling iginawad at inaasahan sa kanila hindi lamang ng mga Manilenyo kundi ng mga taong nagkakaroon ng kaso sa lungsod (That means only one thing. The Manila Prosecutor's Office is able to implement the duty assigned and expected of them, not only by the people of Manila but also by the people who have cases in the city)," the mayor expressed.
Lacuna-Pangan noted that the MPO received such a recognition because of its swift resolution of cases that fall under its jurisdiction.
Mayor Honey said she witnessed the number of times MPO leaders and employees have gained awards and commendations.
"Sabi nga, kapag nabibigyan ng aksyon ay nabibigyan na din natin ng hustisya ang mga nasasakdal at nagsasakdal (That being said, when action is given, we also give justice to the defendants and plaintiffs)," the mayor stressed.
Amid the recognitions, she said that the MPO continues to find ways to provide even better services.
MPO Deputy City Prosecutor Venus Marzan thanked the mayor, Vice Mayor John Marvin Yul Servo Nieto, Secretary to Mayor Marlon Lacson, and City Administrator Bernie Ang for assisting MPO in all its needs.
She said the MPO continuously monitors all the pending cases before them, assuring the public that the cases will not be prolonged.
"Ang mga kaso na nakalatag sa Manila City Prosecutor's Office ay di nagtatagal. Ang kaso sa inquest within the day or the following day ay natatapos na ang information at pwede na magpiyansa ang nasasakdal (Pending cases at the Manila City Prosecutor's Office do not last long. Cases for inquest only last within the day or the following day)," Marzan said.
Marzan added that the MPO is currently conducting a survey to entertain complaints and suggestions in order to enhance the quality of their services.
Mayor Honey called on the city residents and the public in general to participate in the survey to identify areas of MPO services that need further improvement.
