Senator Pia Cayetano was surprised by her co-hosts—brother Alan Peter and Boy Abunda—in the recent episode of the public service program CIA with BA as they celebrated her 58th birthday.

The show used the segment ‘Salamat’ as the disguise for the birthday gimmick. They showed a tribute for Pia, video greetings from the people close to her, and a surprise appearance by Pia’s son Lucas, a childhood friend, and her staff.

“I wish for her to have a good life and she doesn’t get stressed at work,” said Lucas.

Chris Cordero, a childhood friend of Pia for almost 50 years, told her: “It’s such a blessing to have a friend like you.”

“Ang wish ko sa ‘yo, to continue to hunger for the word of God, hunger to change/transform the country, hunger to help young people sa kanilang pamilya, sa sports, sa health nila. Kasi nakita ko ‘pag nandyan ‘yung hunger sa ‘yo, nagagawa talaga,” Alan Peter  told his sister. “We’re proud of you. And sana, makita mo that people do love you and do appreciate all that you’re doing.”

Tito Boy expressed how he loves the lawmaker who is now a friend and a colleague at the same time.

“Dati humahanga lamang ako kay Ate Pia, pero ngayon mahal na mahal ko na,” he said.

“I am happy to be where I am, I’m happy to be who I am. But if I were a woman, I would love to be you — the commitment, the generosity… lahat-lahat na, ‘yung kabuuan,” Boy stated.

For her part, Ate Pia shared how she still gets delighted when she receives surprises, especially as a public servant.

“If you know, sometimes, in my position, nasasanay ka din naman na you don’t really expect anything in return because ‘yung public service is something na, in a way, it’s a calling. And once na tinanggap mo ‘yon — which is tinanggap ko , 20 years na, ang hirap na nag-eexpect ka pa ng something kasi you’ll be disappointed. Like friends will disappoint, colleagues will disappoint. This is a lot of things, ikaw kasi ‘yung nagbibigay ng public service, so once in a while, ‘pag ikaw naman ay na-surprise nang ganito, syempre nakakatuwa,” she said.

“In my day-to-day life, ako naman I just really strive for balance even though pinili ko ‘yung public service, I know from my training and upbringing na ‘yung daddy ko kasi very balanced ‘yun e, I can perform better if balanced din ako,” Pia continued.

“So to end, I always give thanks to God and for those who want to say a prayer for me, ang hihilingin ko lang is that, let’s pray for leaders that are truly dedicated to the welfare of the Filipino people ‘coz this is the only country we have,” said Pia.

‘CIA with BA’ carries on the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

Hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, ‘CIA with BA’ airs every Sunday, 11 p.m. on GMA7.
