DFA: More Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19 as confirmed cases reach 2,178

While the number of overseas Filipino patients who recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reached 640 Saturday, the number of confirmed cases continue to grow with 38 new recorded cases, bringing the total COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad to 2,178, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) bared.
DFA's latest data showed that 66 new recoveries were reported, and that most of the recovered patients were in the Americas.
Unlike on Friday, when a total of 22 deaths were recorded, nine Filipino patients succumbed to the disease Saturday, bringing the COVID-19 death toll among Filipinos abroad to 253.
Eight of the fatalities were reported in the Americas while the other was recorded in Europe.
Most of the new cases were also recorded in the Americas.
Currently, Europe has the highest number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos overseas, with 651 cases. The Middle East has 616 confirmed cases, the Americas 523, and Asia Pacific Region 388.
A total of 1,285 Filipinos abroad are currently undergoing treatment, the DFA said.
