MANILA, Philippines -- Regal Entertainment has a new “shock-master” in the person of indie director Jerrold Tarog. Tarog, crossed over to mainstream cinema directing “Punerarya” of “Shake, Rattle & Roll XII,” the film that won for Carla Abellana the Best New Actress Award from the PMPC Star Awards.

The actress went on to snatch the Best Performer award from the Young Critics Circle, and the Best Sound and Aural Ochestration for Jerrold, who’s also a musical scorer, and sound engineer Lamberto Casas.

Jerrold also directed the indie flick “Senior Year” which was graded “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and was shown at the Bogota International Film Festival held recently in Colombia.

It was for these feats that Regal Entertainment did not waste time to assign the movie “Aswang” to Jerrold. Mother Lily Monteverde was impressed by Jerrold’s work. “His visuals are very stunning. The rushes are really scary. It’s a sure crowd-pleaser. I’m certain it will scare every member of the family – young or old.”

Set to open Nov. 2, “Aswang” is topbilled by Lovi Poe, who plays an alluring barrio lass with a horrific secret.

Lovi added that Jerrold is a “cool” guy on the set. “He’s very helpful and patient and meticulous. He guided me every step of the way.”

Anne pays tribute to Filipino beauty

After conquering the box-office with her smash hit movie “No Other Woman,” Anne Curtis, one of today’s hottest stars and L’Oreal Paris brand ambassadress, brings her stellar power to the Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012.

This is the second time that L’Oreal Paris is supporting the event held twice a week and which is now on its 14th year of bringing together the country’s best designers and fashion brands. The event is being held up to Oct. 30 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia.

For young actor Rocco Nacino who plays leading man in “Time of My Life,” he believes that an actor should have a clear and clean face.
