MANILA, Philippines -- Lovi Poe admitted that she and Mother Lily had a misunderstanding during the shooting of Regal Entertainment’s “Aswang,” set to open on Nov. 2.

“Matinding tampuhan ang namagitan sa kanila,” a production insider said. “And [it’s] all because of Lovi’s delicate love scenes with the movie’s leading man Paulo Avelino. Apparently, the actress couldn’t understand why such delicate love scenes were needed in a horror picture.”

“Aswang,” is Lovie’s launching picture. She plays a vampire (aswang) who falls for a human (played by Paulo).

“Aswang” is a remake of an Alma Moreno movie in the ’80s.

“During the last shooting days, nasabihan na ako na gustong magpa- shoot ng very revealing love scenes ni Mother, pero ayaw ko sana,” said Lovi. “Wala naman sa original script at sequence treatment. Bakit nila gustong ipadagdag? Romance-horror ang movie; it’s supposed to be scary, not sexy. May torrid kissing scene na nga kaming na-shoot, I thought that was it.”

“A few weeks ago, I was asked to shoot for another day,” added Lovi. “Akala ko, it was just for more scary aswang attack scenes. When I arrived at the set, there was a huge bed. Immediately, I knew that it was for the sex scene. Gusto kong umiyak. Then Direk Jerrold (Tarog) explained to me that the scene would be shot in a tasteful way, I was hesitant talaga pero pumayag na rin ako.”

For a few days, Lovi did not talk to Mother Lily. “Inaamin ko na masama talaga ang loob ko. Ayoko muna mag-dubbing. Bakit kailangan ipagawa sa akin ang mga ganitong uri ng eksena?”

But Mother Lily later called Lovi to show her the rough cut of the film.

After seeing the scene, Lovi realized why Mother Lily insisted in doing that sex scene. “It made my aswang character more human, with deep human needs,” Lovi explained later.

Also in the cast of “Aswang” are Joem Bascon, Marc Abaya, Albie Casiño, Jillian Ward, Lara Quigaman, Noni Buencamino and Bembol Roco.

Shamcey is Meralco’s girl

Shamcey Supsup was chosen Meralco’s Ambassador of Light in time for the opening of the PBA’s new season recently.

It’s a new title she particularly relishes because – as she said in an interview with AKTV IBC 13 during the ceremonies at Smart Araneta Center – she shares Meralco’s mission of improving people’s lives.

Shamcey is “absolutely thrilled” to be part of Meralco’s socially relevant activities. She is excited, for instance, to help Meralco light up basketball courts with Meralco Bolts players and illuminate areas that give joy to basketball-crazy Filipinos day-to-day.
