Coast Guard in Catanduanes temporarily cancels sea trips due to bad weather
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station in Catanduanes temporarily canceled on March 23, Tuesday, all passenger trips due to strong winds associated with the northeast monsoon or “Amihan” affecting the coast of the province.
The Coast Guard in Catanduanes made the announcement in reference to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warning that “strong gale force winds associated with the surge of northeast monsoon affect the coast of Catanduanes province.”
“This station has temporarily cancelled all passenger vessel trips with 250 Gross Tonnage and Below plying from Virac Port and San Andres Port, Catanduanes to Tabaco Port, Albay and vice-versa,” the Coast Guard said in an advisory dated March 23, Tuesday.
The Coast Guard also advised motor bancas not to sail to avoid maritime incidents.
“Fishing boats, motor boats, and other small watercrafts are advised not to venture at sea while larger vessels are alerted against big waves,” it added.
