A member of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was hurt while responding to a fire that gutted a commercial building in Paco, Manila on Good Friday, March 29.

The Manila Police District (MPD)-Ermita Police Station (PS-5) identified the victim as Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Royce Caro. He sustained a second degree burn on his neck.
He was immediately brought to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) for treatment.
The BFP said the fire started from a three-storey commercial building along Angel Linao Street in Paco.
The fire was raised to the first alarm at 2:53 a.m. and was elevated to the second alarm at 3:04 a.m.
It was raised to the third alarm at 3:14 a.m. and immediately escalated to the fourth alarm at 3:22 a.m.
Firefighters were able to put the fire under control after almost two hours or at around 5:21 a.m.
The fire was extinguished at around 5:56 a.m.
As of this writing, arson investigators have yet to determine the estimated damage to property and the cause of the fire.
