Garrett Bolden on 'Miss Saigon' stint: 'One for the books'

Garrett Bolden is quite proud of being part of the Guam staging of the musical "Miss Saigon" as John Thomas.

In an interview, the Kapuso Soul Balladeer maintained it's something he would never forget for the rest of his life.

Apparently, it allowed a lot of "new" things for him.

"New wisdom when it comes to singing, performing," he related.

"Not only was I able to unlock new skills but I also enjoyed working with other theater actors," he added, noting how he now hopes to try acting.

But, of course, his singing career comes first.

Note that he just started writing songs.

He wants to record one of these with singer-songwriter Julie Anne San Jose.

Busy as he is, how does Garrett keep the fire burning?

"Siyempre it's always nice to re-set yourself, reflect if ano ba yung gusto mong marating, ano ba yung goals mo. It helps a lot to keep the right people around you to remind you that you got to keep pushing forward."

Just recently, Garrett opened a new chapter in his musical journey.

Out now is his first-ever album under GMA Music titled “Chapters.”

The album contains previously-released singles “Lilipad Na” and “Handa Na Maghintay.”

Also included are his compositions “Our Love,”  the theme song of "I Left My Heart in Sorsogon," and "Pwede Pa Ba," the theme song of the Thai series "Bad Romeo."

His new single “Ikaw Pala,” a revival of Kris Lawrence’s classic hit song from the early 2000s, is also in "Chapters."

Why "Chapters?"

According to the Kapuso singer, releasing the album feels like the beginning of a new chapter, leading to more opportunities and possibilities.

He also feels the songs therein are like chapters in a book.

As to him releasing a cover as single, Garrett explained he simply wants today's generation of listeners to know more about good OPM.
