'Oplan Firewall' up in Cavite
IMUS, Cavite, Philippines — More police officers and men from Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) will be on the streets for three months with the implementation of “Oplan Firewall” in the area.
Chief Inspector Romulo C. Dimaya, PPO information officer, said that the Oplan (operational plan) which designates police office personnel to work with operatives in crowded areas took effect on November 2 and will last until January 31, 2012.
It is aimed at reducing crime incidents and catching wanted individuals expected to strike this holiday season. (Anthony Giron)
Mariveles zigzag road now cloesed
MARIVELES, Bataan — The zigzag road in Barangay Alas-asin, here, is now closed temporarily to pave way for its rehabilitation, a top official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Tuesday. DPWH 2nd District Engineer Medel Chua said the rehabilitation of the zigzag road will take at least on week.
Through funding initiated by Bataan 2nd District Rep. Albert Garcia, the road repair will undergo asphalt overlaying, Chua said. He said Mayor Jesse Concepcion was informed of the repairs on the road, which is links this town with Balanga City. (Mar T. Supnad)
PWD leaders seek mayor's aid
ANTIPOLO CITY — Leaders of persons with disabilities (PWDs) trooped to the city hall here Tuesday to seek the mayo’s support of their sector as they seemed to lack the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The PWDs’ barangay leaders representing the city’s villages tried to seek an audience with Mayor Danilo Leyble to relay objection to the sudden closure of their office over the weekend. Eljoy Lagan, spokesman of the city’s PWDs alleged that City DSWD Head Nadeia Sarte ordered the PWD leaders to vacate the office which they have been occupying without any prior consultation or written notice. VP hears Novo Ecijanos' woes
CABIAO, Nueva Ecija (PIA) — A top government official said he will talk with fellow workers in the Aquino administration to collectively hear the legitimate problems presented by farmers in this town noted for its historic roots.
Vice President Jejomar Binay said local folk here are in need of farm-to-market roads, a new hospital and a senior citizens’ building. Binay also called for subsidy to farmers now that they have accumulated losses.
He said that in view of disasters and climate change, they should be helped and educated preparatory to facing new realities.
HS graduates ready to work
