A Catholic Church leader reminds the faithful of his calling as “messengers and missionaries of God’s mercy.”
Bishop Ruperto Santos
(CBCP / MANILA BULLETIN) Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos said, the just-concluded Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy highlighted “God’s infinite mercy and the faithful’s calling as missionaries to share God’s mercy to all. The apostolic congress strengthened and nourished our faith, loyalty to our Mother Church is heightened and our love for God is more intensified. We come in the mercy of God. We commit ourselves to God’s mercy. And we will celebrate God’s mercy from here, to our country, from Asia to the world. We are all messengers and missionaries of God’s mercy to all,” said Santos, World Apostolic Congress on Mercy (WACOM) Asia episcopal coordinator. Organized by WACOM, the 4th Apostolic Congress on Mercy was hosted by the Diocese of Penang in Malaysia. Held every three years, the theme for this year’s gathering was “Experiencing Mercy through the Joy of the Gospel in Asia.” “The congress brought together some 2,400 delegates from 12 countries in Asia, with 749 delegates from the Philippines with 55 priests and five bishops,” Santos said over Church-run Radio Veritas. “I call on the Filipino faithful to help spread God’s mercy to all through devotion to his Divine Mercy,” Santos said.
