Drug suspect dies in shootout with cops in Cavite buy-bust

By Martin Sadongdong Police shot dead a drug suspect who allegedly engaged lawmen in a shootout during a buy-bust operation in General Trias, Cavite Tuesday afternoon.

Chitadel Gaoiran, head of public information office of Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A), identified the slain suspect as Alyazzriff Sahibuddin alias "Al Paya," of legal age. Elements of General Trias City Police Station conducted a buy-bust on Tropical Village, Pabahay 2000, Brgy. San Francisco, Gen Trias City around 12:30 p.m. to apprehend Sahibuddin. Police said Sahibuddin was about to hand a sachet of illegal drugs to the police poseur-buyer when he suddenly pulled out a caliber .38 revolver. Police said Sahibuddin ran away and started firing shots at the undercover agent. Backup troops responded and ran after Sahibuddin, leading to a brief exchange of gun fire. The suspect was eventually hit in the body multiple times, police added. Police said Sahibuddin was rushed to General Trias Doctors Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by an attending doctor. According to General Trias City Police, Sahibuddin was included in their drugs watchlist. Recovered in the encounter site were the caliber .38 revolver, a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, and several drug paraphernalia.
