Carlo Paalam assured of silver, takes shot at gold vs Kazakh fighter

Carlo Paalam already assured himself at least a silver medal in the men’s 54kg bantamweight division in ASBC Elite Boxing Championships after scoring a unanimous decision win over Kyrgyzstan's Sanzhai Seidekmatov in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 11, in Amman, Jordan.

The Tokyo Games silver medalist defeated his counterpart on all five scorecards with judges from Thailand, Tunisia, Slovakia, Algeria and United Arab Emirates scoring 29-28 in favor of the Filipino pug.

Paalam, who also defeated Muhanov Dovlet of Turkmenistan and Joosung Yoon of South Korea earlier in the tournament, takes his shot at the gold medal when he slugs it out against Makhmud Sabyrkhan in the final set on Sunday, Nov. 12.
