This brings the total number of Filipino passengers to 12, including the nine seafarers who were earlier reported to be among those onboard when the incident happened.
In a statement, the DFA said it has been informed by the Philippine Consulate in Agana, Guam that the three Filipinos—two males and a female -- were also provided with assistance.
All the 12 Filipino passengers were safe and have already taken onward flights to the Philippines, Consul General Marciano de Borja said.
He said the consulate is coordinating with the airline for the recovery of the luggage of the 12 Filipinos.
Air Niugini had also informed the Consulate General that they will be in touch with the Filipinos regarding their claims.
The Air Niugini flight was enroute to Papua New Guinea when it reportedly overshot the runway of the airport in Micronesia.
No major casualty was reported in the incident.
