Butuan City — Thirteen houses were razed to the ground when a fire broke out in Surigao Del Sur component city of Tandag on New Year’s day.
A flash report reaching this city on Tuesday said the fire broke out at 2:30 a.m. in Purok Moonglow, Barangay Bag-ong Lungsod, Tandag City.
Probers from Tandag City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are still looking at the possible origin of the fire.
However, fire probers did not also discount the possibility that firecrackers could have been the cause of the fire which started at the height of the New Year’s Day celebration.
BFP firefighters declared the fire under control 30 minutes after it broke out.
No one was reported hurt during the incident.
Initially, fire probers placed the initial damage close to P1million.
Some of the houses gutted by fire were made of light materials, it was learned.
