In line with efforts to utilize sustainable transportation, the Pasig City local government received eight electric quadricycles (e-quads) developed under the Solutions Plus project. 

The eight units, locally made by start-up company ToJo Motors, are currently available for test runs in the pilot demonstration. 

Last Dec. 5, 2022 , the local government announced its involvement in the global SolutionsPlus initiative, in partnership with the Urban Electric Mobility Institute and Clean Air Asia. 

The project aims to help local governments connect with start-up companies and national agencies to develop "fit-for-purpose e-mobility solutions” that emit zero carbon emissions, promotes the use of clean energy, and adheres to eco-friendly vehicle standards. 

Aside from the e-quad, flexible electric vans (FLEVs) are also being developed as a multi-purpose substitute that can function as a single cab pickup, double cab pickup, and a passenger or cargo van.

The project also includes the development of optimal charging stations and an electric vehicle (EV) sharing system. 

“Hopefully, these eight units will work well and we will be able to scale up in the near future,” said Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, who attended the turnover ceremony for the vehicles. 

"Malayo pa po ang ating journey pagdating sa adoption ng e-vehicle sa bansa, pero nakikita na natin ang pagsisimula ng pagdami ng mga E-bikes (We still have a long journey ahead to adopting e-vehicles in the country, but we can begin to see the increase in citizens using e-bikes)," remarked Vice Mayor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr.

Jaworski added that the City Council will work on creating ordinances to promote safe, efficient, and sustainable options in Pasig.
