Freego rips Cobra, stays unbeaten

MANILA, Philippines — Freego Jeans, with its core enduring a hectic day, kept its unbeaten slate by scoring a 61-54 victory over Cobra Energy Drink in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Monday at the Adamson gym.
Eric Camson had 14 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks as the Jeans Masters notched their fifth straight win to remain on top of the 11-team tournament.
The victory completed a perfect day for most of the Freego cagers, who arrived just minutes before tip-off from The Arena in San Juan after Adamson defeated Jose Rizal University, 73-58, in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
Former Ateneo reserve Bacon Austria, son of coach Leo Austria, had eight points while Lester Alvarez had seven points despite injuring his toe in the PCCL game.
Kenyan center Austin Manyara, who had 16 points and nine boards for Adamson against JRU hours earlier, had six points, seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks in this contest.
The Ironmen dropped to 0-4 – the same record of DUB Unlimited.
In the other game, Boracay Rum went to Toto Bandaying to hack out a 63-61 win over RnW Pacific Pipes.
Bandaying, a former cager for University of the East and the KL Dragons, scored a three-point play with barely a minute left to settle matters. He finished with 16 points as the Waves improved to 3-2.
The Steelmasters, who played sans Kevin Racal after playing for Letran in the PCCL, fell to an even 3-3 slate.
