DOLE hires 2,644 rebel returnees, stranded individuals in Camarines Sur
A total of 2,644 rebel returnees, stranded individuals, solo parents, and other individuals from the most vulnerable sector in Camarines Sur were given a chance to work by the government under emergency job employment of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
According to DOLE Bicol Region Office Director Zenaida Angara-Campita, the workers will be assigned to a 10-day community service from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” (TUPAD) program, that will start on the third week of September.

Campita turned over on Thursday, Sept. 1, the check amounting to P9,915,000 to the Local Government of Tigaon, Camarines Sur for the salaries of the beneficiaries that composed of locally stranded individuals, solo parents, parents of child laborers, rebel returnees, and displaced workers from the 23 barangays.
The beneficiaries will be deployed in cleaning roads and public facilities for the period of ten days with a salary package of P345 per day or equivalent to P3,450 apiece, based on the prevailing minimum wage in the Bicol Region.
Under the TUPAD program, the labor department is committed to providing effective temporary employment opportunities to needy workers, particularly those who have lost their jobs or livelihood due to the global pandemic.
“Beneficiaries were also covered with accident insurance for one year. Also, part of the package of assistance they will receive are personal protective equipment and basic concepts on occupational safety and health and financial literacy during the project orientation” said Campita.
