New Ilocos Sur Police Director

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines — Senior Superintendent Noel Amoyen has assumed the post of new officer in charge (OIC) of the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) at Camp President Elpidio Quirino, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Amoyen, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class ’85, replaced Sr. Supt. Reynante Partible, who was assigned as the new chief of the Civil Relation Division of the police regional office in Region 1. (Freddie G. Lazaro)

Espino lauds Justice on Wheels

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. lauded Friday the work of the Supreme Court’s (SC’s) “Justice on Wheels” in the speedy resolution of long-standing cases. In one of the cases resolved at the provincial jail recently, a detainee was released after being found to be overstaying in prison.

Justice Midas Marquez, court administrator and spokesman of the SC, supervised the Justice on Wheels visit here. He said the SC now has nine customized buses, each equipped with a court hearing and mediation area for the easy and speedy resolution of cases. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)

Saquilayan stays

IMUS, Cavite — Incumbent Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan will continue to hold office and perform his duties and functions pending the granting of writ of execution for former Mayor Emmnauel L. Maliksi to takeover his position. As of Friday noon, the legal counsel of Saquilayan has yet to receive the Special Order to Grant Execution Pending Appeal from Imus RTC Branch 22 Judge Cesar A. Mangrobang to keep the legal proceedings moving.

Attorney Charles Perfecto A. Mercado, Saquilayan's lawyer, said that he would file a temporary restraining order (TRO) once the court issued the order. He cited that the judge may issue the grant any day, starting Friday. “If the court issues the order, we have 20 days to get a TRO, if we cannot get the TRO within the period, then the judge (Mangrobang) can issue a writ of execution,” Mercado said. ‘Gawad Saka 2011’ awards Zambales

IBA, Zambales — The Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) of this province was recently awarded as the Most Outstanding PAFC in Central Luzon. The award was given recently by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Unit 3 (DA-FRU3) during the 2011 Central Luzon Gawad Saka awards.

The province received top honors along with the Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) of Guagua, Pampanga which was named Outstanding MAFC; and the Balanga City Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) as outstanding FARMC. (Jonas Reyes)

Rizal, a hit in craftsman

TAYTAY, Rizal — The ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Rizal residents were highlighted in the recently concluded Christmas trade fair of this province’s micro, small and medium enterprises. This came as the Rizal Manufacturers and Exporters Association Incorporated (REMAI) ended its 10-day holiday trade fair at the Events Center of SM Taytay last Thursday.

Showcased in the bazaar were the province’s most unique products from most of the towns and city of the province including the life-size figurines of Santa Claus of various poses and expression. The bazaar is part of the program initiated by Gov. Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares, III. (Nel B. Andrade)
