Biñan gets new patrol cars
BIÑAN CITY, Laguna, Philippines — The city government here headed by City Mayor Marlyn “Lenlen” Alonte donated two brand new mobile patrol cars to Binan City Police Station to help the police’s campaign on keeping peace and order.
Alonte officially turned-over two Hyundai X-100 patrol cars to Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) director Senior Supt. Gilberto Cruz and Binan police chief Supt. Leonard Luna in front of city hall after the flag raising ceremony Monday morning. Naguiat said she would continue helping her local police to attain the goal of zero crime rate in the city.Cruz lauded the lady mayor in supporting police’s necessity. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Maliksi can be installed — RTC
IMUS, Cavite — A local court approved on Monday the Special Order to Grant Execution Pending Appeal in connection with its decision ousting incumbent Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan and declaring Emmnuel L. Maliksi as the duly elected mayor of this town following a revision of the protested ballots in the May 10, 2010 automated elections.
The police have been on alert as they tagged the next few weeks to be crucial as the two protagonists have received copies of the order. The writ of execution is a legal prerequisite for Maliksi to assume office at the municipal hall. (Anthony Giron)
P50-M needed to fix bridge
APALIT, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 3 revealed on Monday that at least P50 million is needed for the new replacement of Colgante Bridge in this town.
The collapsed bridge is connecting Apalit to coastal towns of Macabebe and Masantol in the province.
DPWH Executive Regional Director Antonio Molano said that the engineering works was estimated approximately at least P50 million to fix the entire structure of the destroyed Bridge. (Franco G. Regala)
DoH region 1 joins PMS
DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, chief of the Region 1 Medical Center based here, reported Monday a successful holding of the Philippine Society of Medical Specialists, Inc.’s 1st Department of Health (DoH) Medical Alumni Reunion in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Under the theme “Catalyst to Human Resource Augmentation through Public-Private Partnerships,” the new organization eyes to help in the equitable distribution of medical specialists in the country. The group also plans on implementing a training program to resident-doctors more service-oriented and flexible to the needs of the public. The group, initiated two years ago by then Health Secretary Francisco Duque, is supported by DoH Secretary Enrique T. Ona. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
P5M vowed for Albay Academy
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay (PIA) — Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje has committed here an initial fund of P5 million for Albay’s Climate Change Academy (CCA) for local government units in the country.
Speaking at the first National Media Conference on Climate Change Adaptation, a Pre-Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the Bicol University(BU), Paje said the funding assistance will be released next year to help finance the requirements of the CCA. Paje said funding the CCA will help push its mission of promoting climate-change adaptation and mitigation.
