The Danish Dairy Board (DDB), an interbrand organization of dairy producers in Denmark, said they are looking at the Philippines as a good market for organic dairy products. 

The organization cited data from the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) forecast stating that “demand for dairy products in the Philippines is seen to increase by three percent, reaching 3.5 million metric tons in liquid milk equivalent by 2024.”

“We believe consumers deserve access to a diverse range of top-tier dairy options that not only offer exceptional taste but also adhere to stringent standards and sustainability practices,” said DDB Senior Marketing Manager Lars Witt Jensen. 

The DDB said in a statement following the launch of a three-year education campaign in the Philippines to promote Europe’s finest selection of organic dairy. 

The DDB campaign dubbed “Organic Dairy PH”, co-funded by the European Union (EU), aims to tap into the Filipino market through informing the public about European organic dairy, its nutritional benefits, and the European farms’ sustainable dairy production. 

These organic dairy products include organic UHT full cream milk, organic UHT low-fat milk, organic fresh milk, organic low-fat fresh milk, and organic cream cheese. 

The DDB emphasized its conformity and compliance to sustainable production practices such as prohibiting the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified organisms; promoting animal welfare, preserving the environment, ensuring safe food supplies, and reducing their climate footprints. 

"Producing high-quality dairy products involves a deep respect for the land, the animals, and the consumers. It is about creating a harmonious, sustainable system that prioritizes quality without compromising on ethical standards. Through the campaign, our aim is to help consumers understand what makes organic dairy naturally good, particularly the numerous benefits it delivers to our body and the environment,” said Danish Agriculture & Food Council – Organic Food and Farming Manager Ejvind Pedersen. 

The campaign involves “Tasting Days” at supermarkets and grocery stores in Metro Manila, particularly at Landers (Alabang, Arcovia, UP Town Center, BGC), SM Supermarket (Aura, Megamall), The Landmark Supermarket (Alabang, BGC, Makati, Trinoma), South Supermarket (Filinvest), and The Marketplace (Central Square, EDSA Shangri-La, Glorietta/Makati, Greenbelt, Rockwell) branches. These outlets offer samples of the dairy products until January next year.   

VIP Consumer Classes will also be held by the DDB to share their expertise in dairy production, and cooking meals with organic dairy among other topics. 

The DDB is also looking into collaborating with social media influencers, and members of the online parenting and food communities to further spread the campaign.
