Luzon Quakes
CANDON CITY, Philippines — Three successive mild quakes jolted in some areas in Luzon this Sunday morning but these does not cause any damage to property, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Local Phivolcs Researcher Porferio De Peralta based in Sinait, Ilocos Sur told the first quake occured at 5:41 a.m. Sunday with 4.8 magnitude and its epicenter was traced at 35 kilometers southwest of Calayan Island in Cagayan province with a depth of 15 kilometers but no intensity recorded.
De Peralta said that the second quake was 3.2 magnitude happened at about 6:10 a.m. Sunday with epicenter at 9 kilometers southwest of Bolinao, Pangasinan with a depth of 23 kilometers. (Freddie G .Lazaro)
Bokod Tourism
BOKOD, Philippines — In its effort to promote the municipality as a tourism destination, SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) will look into the possibility of including the dam and the hydro power plant as a destination.
SNAP Vice President for corporate affairs Atty. Mike Hosillos said that they will bring the issue of including the dam and the power plant as another destination in the municipality aside from the other areas and activities already being promoted by the town.
He explained that the possibility is for the company to put in place a tourist kiosk where they can place information and promotional materials about the operation of the plant. (Rizaldy Comanda)
Band Contest
CITY OF MALOLOS, Philippines — The “Pambansang Muziklaban” semi-final round of Red Horse Beer on Friday became a virtual “Rock and Roll sa Ulan” concert as eight local bands from Luzon battled each other amidst a rain-soaked stage at The Cabanas in Bgy. Longos here.
Almost thousand of rock sound lovers gathered at the said place where local heavy metal band “Curbside” emerged victorious after slugging it out with equally rockhard bands like “Snakeplace”, “Inocente”, “Punchcard”, “Sound of Era”, “Vie”, ”Almost Six” and “Dirtslub.”
The Malolos-leg of Red Horse Beer “Pambansang Muziklaban” semi-finals round at The Cabanas whizzed through the night up to the wee hours of the morning as popular local heavy metal bands “Wilabaliw” and “Greyhoundz” rocks the crowd. (Freddie C. Velez)
Rehab Center
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — The first ever Northern Luzon Treatment and Rehabilitation Center was established here to cater out patients having drug problem from Region 1, II and Region III.
The Region 1 Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center located at Barangay Bonuan Binloc was formally opened on Saturday to outpatients. And its dormitory and recreation facilities for inpatients will be constructed immediately next year. (Liezle Basa Inigo )
Children’s Congress
MANILA, Philippines — Some 200 children in Naga City expressed their understanding of children’s rights and welfare through drawings, as part of the government’s poverty alleviation initiative called Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The children-beneficiaries of 4Ps participated in the Children’s Congress held in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City where they were asked to express their concerns through drawings. Barangay Concepcion Pequeña has the highest number of 4Ps beneficiaries in Naga City with 489 households. Naga City has a total number of 3,832 household beneficiaries.
Their drawings were anchored on the event’s theme “Karapatan at Kapakanan ng Bata, Itaguyod!”. (Ellalyn B. De Vera)
