2 youngsters to run capitol

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Philippines — Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado welcomed Tuesday the 61 boy and girl officials who will serve as little executives in the Capitol in line with the observance of “Linggo ng Kabataan” from December 5 to 9. The young leaders were elected by their peers and chosen from various schools to serve a one-week term in the Capitol.

Elected as the Governor was Zsarlaine S. Valeña from the Immaculate Concepcion Child Development School while Gerardo P. Liway IV from San Miguel National High School will be the vice governor. “The boy and girl officials will be trained in the actual discharging of duties as public officials and experience how to run the local government,” Alvarado said. Imus bonuses to be released

IMUS, Cavite — Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan has assured that Christmas bonus would be received by municipal employees on or before December 15 amid the political brouhaha besetting the town lately.

 The 10-man Sangguniang Panglungsod (municipal council) likewise assured that the session for the approval of the budget for the coming year and other resolutions as well as pending inquiries and actions would not be disrupted with the development.

 The assurance for the release of the P10,000 productivity enhancement bonus was made by Saquilayan during the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony. (Anthony Giron)

Covered courts

ABUCAY, Bataan — Board Member Dexter Dominguez, popularly known as “Teri Onor” in the showbiz industry, continues to veer the youth away from drugs and other delinquent activities through initiatives to build more covered courts and school buildings in the province.

Among the covered courts that have been constructed through his efforts are the ones in Barangays Gabon and Capitangan in Abucay, and the soon-to-rise covered court at the Abucay North Elementary School in Barangay Mabatang. (Mar T. Supnad)

Expert conducts seminar for cops

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — A total of 85 personnel of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1) and 6 members of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) attended the recent lecture on “Policing Tactics During Demonstration/Rallies in Observance of the Rule of Law and Human Rights” conducted by an international expert.

Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, PRO1 director, said the group was fortunate to have learned a lot from Police Director Hubert Muller, head of the Second Standby Police Division based in Eischstatt, Bavaria, Germany. Pro-environment youth in Cainta

CAINTA, Rizal — The municipal government here is tapping the winners of the “1st Ginoo at Binibining Cainta 2011” pageant for a series of pro-environment activities, it was learned Tuesday. Mayor Ramon “Mon” Ilagan said the winners will be ambassadors of the youth for the environment and be involved in protecting and campaigning for conservation activities such as tree-planting.

Among the winners are Emmie Abe Javier, 18; Honey Grace Capelo, 18; Michaella Driz, 21; Kadijha Nasser, 21; and Jovelyn Sadulang, 21; Paul Anthony Bagaforo, 18; Jan Patrick Aguirre, 20; Bernard Buan, 18; and Jano Lloyd Bacani, 24. (Nel B. Andrade)
