Impasse ends
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines — In the spirit of industrial peace, the management of Clark Development Corporation and the supervisory union group agreed to end the impasse on the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement and return to bilateral negotiations.
In a meeting at the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) in the City of San Fernando in Pampanga on Monday, both parties (CDC) and the Association of CDC Supervisory Personnel agreed on the proposals of conciliator NCMB Director Darrow P. Odsey. In the conciliatory meeting, the CDC management has agreed to favorably consider the non-economic items raised by the union. (Franco G. Regala)
Giant clams
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is raising funds for the “seeding” of giant clams here by conducting “Takbo para sa Taklobo” fun run on Dec. 9. According to SBMA’s Ecology Center chief Amethya Koval, the fun run will not only raise funds for these giant clams but would also increase public awareness about the marine life inside the Subic Bay Freeport.
“Most importantly, this is to encourage stakeholders to participate in managing the natural resources of Subic Bay, including the protection and propagation of marine species like the endangered giant clams,” said Koval. (Jonas Reyes)
New college
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – In a bid to uplift the poor system of education, the city government has allotted at least P320 million for the start of the construction of a new modern state college in the city.
As this developed, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan will lead Thursday the groundbreaking rites of the soon-to-rise City College of Angeles at the “Agyu Tamu Sports complex” beside the Angeles City National High School in Barangay Pampang here.
Pamintuan will be joined by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting, members of the City Council and other private sectors officials. The mayor said the CCA is expected to operate in June 2012 and will be ready for the start of classes next year. (Franco G. Regala)
Cash grants
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – At least 58,539 more indigent families in Central Luzon will be added to the cash dole out program of the government next year, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here reported Wednesday.
DSWD regional information officer Jasper Nicolas disclosed that Nueva Ecija will have the most number of new grantees for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (Pantawid Pamilya) program of the Social Welfare Department with 24,347. Tarlac followed with 9,689; Zambales — 5,865; Bulacan — 5,711; Pampanga — 5,560; Aurora —4,827; and Bataan — 2,540. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
Azalea residences
BAGUIO CITY — The first all-suite residences have finally opened in Baguio City. This is Foghorn’s first venture into the accommodation business. Foghorn Inc. inaugurated the Azalea residences-Baguio, the first of the multiple resort-hotels that the company has placed in its drawing board in various vacation areas in the country.
Solicitor General Anselmo Cadiz arrived as guest of honor and cut the ribbon marking the formal opening of the hotel to the public. He was joined by Foghorn Inc. President Mariano Martinez and his mother-in-law Beatriz Benares, together with Ms. Dullah Lipardo, Azalea resorts and residences chief operating officer. (Rizaldy Comanda)
