'Pawikan' saved on Badoc shore
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Philippines — Police operatives rescued a 30-year-old “pawikan” (green sea turtle) on the shoreline of Barangay Pagsanjan, Badoc town, this province, Fishery Regulatory Coordinator Arthur Valente reported Tuesday.
Valente said that the green sea turtle, with shell covering of around 65 centimeters, was immediately returned to the high seas. He said the officers from Badoc, Ilocos Norte responded immediately upon learning a report on the presence of the turtle in the area, saving it from the threat of being slaughtered for its meat. PRO 1 supports women's rights
CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — Chief Superintendent Franklin J.B. Bucayu, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, joined the blowing of whistle and signing of the UNITE Pledge Cloth that highlighted the culmination of this year’s “18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW),” which started last November 25.
The PRO1 uniformed personnel simultaneously blew their respective whistles as a symbolic gesture of their commitment to prevent violence against women. “We know women’s rights; we speak out against violence against women; and most importantly we help someone who suffers from it,” Bucayu said. Oplan Checkmate
CAMP GEN. GARCIA, Cavite — Senior Superintendent John C. Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, tagged as successful the day and night implementation of “Oplan Checkmate” in the province.
Bulalacao said that report of the so-called riding-in-tandem perpetration was a virtual nil since the operational plan was enforced in the province’s four cities and 19 towns last November 8.
The feat made Chief Superintendent Gil C. Meneses, director of Police Regional Office (PRO-4-A), the brainchild of the Oplan proud and happy. (Anthony Giron)
Bataan gains new investor – AFAB
FREEPORT AREA OF BATAAN — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) recently attracted another prominent business enterprise to invest in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB). DeskTop Bags Philippines, Inc. – a partner of the Luen thai International Group Ltd. (Luen Thai) – signed a Memorandum of Agreement, Registration Agreement and Contract of Lease with AFAB to manufacture computer bags, trolleys, CD bags, camera bags and other accessories.
“We are glad about DeskTop’s decision to join the FAB family,” said AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias G.P. Custodio. (Mar T. Supnad)
Angeles LGU gives big PEI
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Employees of the city government here will receive their additional holiday bonus this week to the tune of P12,000. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said on Tuesday that he already ordered the City Treasurer’s Office to release the Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) bonus that affords each permanent, casual and contractual employee P12,000.
“The national government has pegged the PEI bonus at P10,000. However, with good fiscal management, our current budget will allow us to give additional incentive of P2,000 to our employees,” Pamintuan said. (Franco G. Regala)
