'Mugna-Lambigit' exhibit
CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines (PIA) — The Cebu provincial government, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., League of Municipalities-Cebu Chapter, and the Department of Education, along with the Cebu Artists Inc., United Architects of the Philippines, and University of San Carlos’ Cons ervation and Heritage Research Institute and Workshop, will open an art exhibit called "Mugna-Lambigit" on December 21 at the 3rd floor Atrium of SM City-Cebu.
The exhibit runs through Dec. 30.
Laoang projects
LAOANG, Northern Samar (PIA) — Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) community projects were inaugurated last December 10, 2011 in Laoang, Northern Samar.
The community projects were two concrete path walks and two drainage canals which the village folks identified as their priority needs and which they themselves implemented. During the event, Laoang Mayor Madeleine Ong who said the KALAHI-CIDSS “is not a project but a process.”
SEA-K beneficiaries
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo recently turned over checks amounting to P825,000 to beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program in Negros Oriental.
SEA-K is a national program implemented by DSWD to provide the poor disadvantaged sector here with timely access to credit and development opportunities. Degamo handed over the checks to the presidents of 10 SEA-K organizations here during a ceremony held last Dec. 5, 2011 at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex.
Sniffing allies
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — The Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) in Bohol has found two more allies in its fight against drug abuse in the province, that is, sniffing German Shepherd dogs. Bohol officials showed last week one of the two drug-sniffing German Shepherd dogs and their handlers.
The presentation came after President Benigno S. Aquino III admitted that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has only 16 detection dogs distributed throughout the country’s 16 regions.
Kalibo drive
KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) — The municipality of Kalibo has recently vaccinated a total of 4,558 dogs from several of its barangays through its Municipal Agricultural Services Office (MGSO).
According to Dr. Janna Rose Menez, Veterinarian I of Kalibo, the vaccination activity was conducted in barangays Estancia, Andagao, Bakhaw Sur, Bakhaw Norte, New Buswang, Old Buswang, Linabuan Norte, Mabilo, Nalook, Pook, Tigayon and Briones.
The MGSO will also visit the rest of Kalibo barangays to vaccinate the dogs against rabies infection, according to the Public Affairs, Information and Community Development (PAICD).
