Alice Dixson

MANILA, Philippines — As the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival approaches, discussions among film enthusiasts as to which film entries will top the box-office are becoming more interesting. “Panday 2” is always mentioned. And Alice Dixson is among the country’s top actresses cast in “Panday 2.”

The other actresses are Marian Rivera, who is Bong Revilla’s leading lady; Lorna Tolentino, Iza Calzado, and Lucy Torres.

Alice won the Miss Philippines International and emerged as semi-finalist in the 1986 Miss International pageant held in Japan. As a consequence, she appeared in a beauty ad which catapulted her even more to the spotlight.

Her acting career goes back to 1987 when she was awarded the  Most Promising Star by the Philippine Movie Press Club.

In 1998, she won as Best Actress for her role in “Sambahin Ang Ngalan Mo.”

Then she left for Canada to live a quiet life with her husband, but after six years, the lure of acting won her over. She appeared in TV5’s “Ang Babaeng Hampaslupa” and currently in the network’s “Glamorosa.”

Alice said she cheats age with “De-Butter Body Contouring Treatment,” a non-invasive and painless treatment based on cryotherapy which entails exposure to freezing temperature.

Currently making its presence felt in the music industry is a band uniquely called Ynstynk. The band, composed mostly of Ilocano singers-songwriters who are blood-related, was launched recently at the Cowboy Grill on Quezon Ave.

Ynstynk Band has Ynyaki Avila as lead vocalist and band leader. As recording artists, they are managed by Lourdes Credito of Live X Music, which produced their debut CD “The Heart of Ynstynk,” whose tracks include “You And Me Will Say I Do” and “Para Sa Yo.”

Other members are Eich Abando (keyboardist/vocalist), Joey Canosa (vocalist), Kenneth Dafun (drummer), John Canosa (bass guitarist), Kimpee Dafun (rhythm guitarist), and Ron Coronejo (lead guitarist).
