PH Red Cross provides psychosocial support, hot meals to Bulusan Volcano eruption victims
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Welfare Team set up a Welfare Desk to provide Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) to 301 persons who fled from the phreatic eruption of Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon on Sunday, June 5.

PRC also served hot meals through their Hot Meals on Wheels program to a total of 180 distressed individuals.
Moreover, the Safety Services Team deployed one ambulance unit from PRC’s Sorsogon Chapter with a team of trained emergency medical services personnel.
They installed a First Aid station and were on standby to treat and transport patients.
Two patients were aided for minor injuries.
Fifty-four Red Cross 143 volunteers lent their time and effort to the displaced residents.
PRC also deployed one food truck from its Albay Chapter.
“Ang Philippine Red Cross ay laging handang tumulong sa ating mga kababayan sa oras ng mga ganitong emergency (The Philippine Red Cross is always ready to help our countrymen in times of emergencies like this),” said PRC Chairman and Chied Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon in a statement released on June 6.
Bulusan Volcano is still at Alert Level 1 as per the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Entry into the 4-kilometer-radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and entry without vigilance into the Extended Danger Zone (EDZ) are not allowed as well as flying of any aircraft near the volcano.
Phivolcs warned everyone of possible sudden stream-driven or phreatic eruptions. (Luisa Cabato)
