MANILA, Philippines — It will definitely be double fun to watch Box-Office King and Queen Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas put together their respective comic powers in “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” Star Cinema and M-Zet Productions’ entry to the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival that officially starts on Dec. 25.

In the past, both Vic and Ai Ai have each proven their individual drawing powers at the tills. With them together in one film entry, how could their film not be a blockbuster?

Vic’s previous outings as Enteng Kabisote (last year with Bong Revilla in “Si Enteng Kabisote at si Agimat”) were blockbusters and so are those of Ai Ai’s “Tanging Ina” starrers. Last year, she won as Best Actress for “Tanging Ina Mo, Last na Ito.”

Reminded about this, Ai Ai however said, “I do not wish to win another Best Actress award. Tama na sa akin na maging topgrosser kami.”

Directed by Tony Reyes, “Enteng ng Ina Mo” mixes comedy with fantasy, with the characters Enteng and Ina getting into each other’s different worlds.

In the movie, Vic as Enteng Kabisote wants to retire as perennial hero of Engkantasya and lead a normal life without the magical elements, Ai Ai as Ina Montecillo, mother of now grown-up children (among them Marvin Agustin, Nikki Valdez and Alwyn Uytingco) by different men, looks forward to meeting the right partner.

Incidentally, “Enteng ng Ina Mo” was graded “B” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

Solenn a trouper says Paulo

In “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” Regal Films’ entry to the MMFF, Paulo Avelino has a love scene with Solenn Heussaff, a woman considered to be every man’s fantasy. While preparing to shoot the love scene, the young actor got nervous.

“I’ve done love scenes before, but not as intense and as revealing as this one,” explained Paulo. “And it was my first intimate scene with Solenn Heussaff. I guess the thought of it will make any man nervous.” Paulo admitted that Solenn is one of his showbiz crushes, and that made him even more uneasy.

“Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” positions Paulo with some of the best actors and actresses in the Philippine movie industry. The stellar cast includes Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion, Jericho Rosales, Dennis Trillo, and Lovi Poe.

Star Magic artists in MMFF entries

Many ABS-CBN Star Magic artists are featured in three entries to this year’s December film festival: “Segunda Mano,” “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” and “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13.”

In the Kris Aquino-Dingdong Dantes team-up “Segunda Mano,” directed by Joyce Bernal and produced by MJM Productions, are Angelica Panganiban (whose character Mariela is supposed to be kept under wraps to surprise the viewers), Bettina Carlos, and Bangs Garcia. In “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” featured are Xyriel Manabat, Megan Young and Nikki Valdez.

On the other hand, in “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13” are Maricar Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo, Bugoy Cariño in the “Tamawo” episode; Sam Concepcion, Kathryn Bernardo and Dimples Romana in the “Parola” episode.
