Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. expressed Tuesday, March 12, his sincerest greetings to the Filipino Muslim community in celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In a statement, Abalos stated that "Ramadhan is the month of fasting and reflection for our brothers and sisters in the Islamic faith where sacrifice, obedience and discipline are observed."
"As you deepen your faith in this important month, may you continue to enliven your spirituality and practice the sacred text of the Holy Qur'an in your daily undertakings," Abalos said.
Amid diversity, Abalos pointed out that “we are bonded by our monotheistic faith."
"May this month present us all with boundless opportunities toward genuine, inclusive, and sustained peace and development," Abalos continued.
He expressed solidarity with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) in promoting the rights of Muslim Filipinos.
