28 conflict-vulnerable associations in Surigao del Norte get livelihood aid

BUTUAN CITY – Twenty-eight conflict-vulnerable associations in Surigao del Norte have received livelihood assistance from the government.

The provision of livelihood grant is part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) implementation of the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), DSWD 13 Regional Information Office chief Marko Davey Reyes said.

Reyes said each association was given P300,000 to fund their proposed livelihood activity.

DSWD Field Office Caraga Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga and Surigao del Norte Gov. Robert Lyndon S. Barbers led the turnover recently of these livelihood grants and Civil Society Organization (CSO) accreditation certificates to the 28 associations from the municipalities of Alegria, Claver, Gigaquit, Mainit, Placer, San Francisco (Anao-aon), and Surigao City.

Dollaga assured the people that government support for conflict-vulnerable areas in Surigao del Norte continues.

She said that they will closely monitor the progress of these associations and provide technical assistance to their livelihood projects.

Barbers encouraged them to utilize these grants wisely and reminded them that they have the responsibility to maximize this opportunity to its full potential.
