PSA, DICT to roll out national digital ID this year -- Go

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) have agreed to roll out the national digital ID platform this year.

This was revealed by Secretary Frederick D. Go, special assistant to the President on investment and economic affairs, in a speech during the 2nd General Membership Meeting and Induction Ceremony of National Directors and Officers of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Association on March 22 in Makati.

According to Go, both PSA and DICT officials came together to his office to agree on working a digital national ID platform. “And the good news is we will have use cases before the end of the year,” he said.

Go said that he has been working on the National ID or the digital national ID. “I have identified this as a priority project because this is foundational to the implementation of many many government programs,” he said.

Go explained that a digital national ID will simplify public and private transactions, and enhance KYC (know your customers) process.

It will also enhance the delivery of government services, strengthen financial inclusion and ultimately promote the ease of doing business.

The production of the digital ID will be handled by DICT, while PSA will still do the printing and distribution of the physical version of the National ID.

Meanwhile, CREBA President Noel “Toti” M. Cariño said that the new 2024 to 26 board commits to support the national development goals, especially the housing requirement of Filipinos.

Carino cited beaming excellent business opportunities in the framework of private and public sector partnerships.

That is why CREBA is not just focused on the interests of its members, he said, but also on enabling millions of homeless families to acquire decent and affordable homes in the most efficient and holistic communities.
