The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will now be under the Department of Labor and Employment.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. signed on Friday, Sept. 16, the Executive Order No. 5, transferring the attachment of TESDA from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to the Labor department.
According to the EO, the transfer was made following the policy of the national government to "rationalize the functional structures of agencies with complementary mandates."
The move also intends to "promote coordination, efficiency, and organizational coherence in the bureaucracy."
Under the EO, the Labor Secretary shall be the chairperson of the TESDA Board. The order shall take effect immediately.
This was not the first time the TESDA was transferred. In 2016, it was placed under the supervision of the Cabinet Secretary before it was transferred to the DTI in 2018.
The TESDA Act of 1994 has created the TESDA as the primary agency responsible for formulating continuing, coordinated and fully integrated technical education and skills development policies, plans and programs, taking into consideration improved linkages between industry, labor and government in the formulation of any national-level plan.
