LPA to bring moderate to heavy rains over Visayas, Mindanao -- PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said moderate to at times heavy rains may affect Visayas and Mindanao as a low pressure area (LPA) moved closer to the country on Wednesday, March 10.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 640 kilometers (km) east-southeast of Davao City or 675 km east of General Santos City, as of 3 p.m.

PAGASA said the LPA was less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 36 hours.

However, it said Visayas and Mindanao may experience cloudy skies with scattered moderate to at times heavy rains, as the LPA will likely cross Mindanao and southern Visayas between Thursday and Friday, March 11 to 12.

PAGASA advised those in Visayas and Mindanao to remain alert against possible flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the prevalence of northeast monsoon or "amihan."

PAGASA has not issued a gale warning on Thursday afternoon as sea conditions over the northern and eastern sections of the country remains moderate to rough, while the rest of the country's coasts will be slight to moderate.

Seafarers and fisherfolk were safe to sail but were still advised to observe caution when venturing out to sea.
