Urdaneta City, 11 other areas in Pangasinan cancel classes due to extreme heat

URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan – This city cancelled face-to-face classes on Thursday, April 4, due to extreme heat.

Eleven other areas in this province also suspended face-to-face classes on Thursday because of hot weather.

These are:

•    Aguilar – All levels
•    Alcala – Preschool to senior high school 
•    Bani – All levels (afternoon classes only)
•    Binmaley – All levels 
•    Manaoag – Preschool to senior high school
•    Mangaldan – Preschool to senior high school 
•    Mangatarem - All levels
•    San Carlos City – All levels
•    Santa Barbara – Preschool to senior high school
•    Umingan – Preschool to senior high school
•    Urbiztondo – All levels

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration on Wednesday said the heat index hit 43 degrees Celsius or danger level in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

PAGASA forecast a 42 degrees Celsius heat index on Thursday and Friday, April 5.

Authorities reminded the people to take the necessary precautions against heat stroke.
